Playing Cyclo the game solo
When you do not have a fellow player available, you can also play alone.
For Cyclo-Starter, this is a logical step. However, we have made a number of adjustments that can give the game some fun twists.
At first glance, it is not possible to create a Cyclo-PRO variant, but here too, with some additional adjustments, we have devised a game where you play against fate itself.
Cyclo-Starter Solo
In Cyclo-Starter Solo, you will have to roll the dice for all riders yourself.
You start in the same way: you roll the dice for each rider according to their number and place the rider as far to the left as possible. From the second round onwards, you roll for the rider in first position first, then the second, and so on. For subsequent turns as well, you place the riders as far to the left as possible.
You play according to the original multiplayer game, with the following adjustments.
The Pit Rule
The "pit" in the title refers to the value 1 on the die. Just like with a fruit such as a cherry or peach, there is one pit in the middle.
The Pit Rule therefore refers to a dice roll where all rolled dice show the value 1.
Dus met
- 1 die returning value 1
- 2 dice with total value 2
- 3 dice with o total added value of 3
When you roll this value for a rider, you move the rider one, two, or three spaces depending on the number of dice, but then roll for that same rider again. If you roll the lowest value again, the rider may be moved that value and you roll again, and so on, until you get a different value.
BEWARE!
If the rider lands in a different course type with the PITroll, you roll the adjusted number of dice for the new course section.
In the example shown here, the value 1 is rolled for rider number 3 with one die. Rider number 3 moves 1 space forward, thus entering the descent, and three dice are rolled for him again.
A value of 1 is also rolled for rider number 6, but he is a climber, so he may move 2 spaces forward and also enters the descent. The dice are rolled again for him as well, and also with three dice.
In the event that the new roll with three dice indicates the value 3 (lowest value) for one of these riders, the rider in question is moved 3 spaces and three dice are rolled again.
If you realy like this adjustment, you can also apply it when playing with multiple players.
The Chance Cards
Because you play alone, you cannot assign a drawn Chance card. Therefore, the following adjustment.
Shuffle the Chance cards with the Cyclo logo facing up and place them in a stack.
When a dice roll contains 2 sixes (with 2 dice a total value of 12, or with 3 dice, i.e., 2 sixes with a third die of a different value), a Chance card is drawn.
If a positive chance card is drawn (move extra spaces forward), the card is played for the rider for whom two sixes were rolled.
If it is a negative card (fewer dice or skip a turn), roll one die. If the value is 1, the card is used against the rider in first position; if the value is 2, it is for the rider in second position, and so on.
Attention! The restrictions for a card still apply. If the card cannot be used because the rider is in a certain section of the track, the card is not played and is set aside.
Cyclo-Pro solo
Naturally, you cannot take over Cyclo-Pro in every detail. After all, there are no other players who can make decisions about taking the wheel, holding back, or the use of tokens. Therefore, the following adjustments have been made so that you take on fate itself.
How to play - preparation
Choose your own team and line up the riders at the start.
The riders of the other teams
For the riders of the other teams, you play as in Cyclo-Starter Solo (including the pit rule and the use of chance cards), but with every roll, the rider for whom the roll is made moves one space forward. This means that a climber from another team moves two spaces forward during a climb.
The riders of your own team
The riders of your own team can be moved forward a maximum of the rolled value (you can also use the pit rule for your own riders).
However: you may use the extra options of Cyclo-Pro: "sitting in the wheel", "holding back", "position change" (though only between riders of your own team) and the use of tokens. However, with the understanding that you receive 1 token less than the number of boards used. So if you play across 3 boards, each rider and the team receive 2 tokens (4 boards = 3 tokens). Chance cards for your riders also appear on a double six. The Cyclo-Pro variant of the cards is used for your riders (e.g., receiving an extra token or giving up a token). If one of your riders is dealt the "bonk" card but has no tokens left, you apply the Cyclo-Starter variant to this rider.
Gameplay
Because the other riders move forward faster, you will need to use your tokens wisely and organize yourself well, otherwise you will be dropped.
